Update..........

We are still awaiting council approval. We lodged 7th May, I would have thought it would be approved by now as many of the other builds in our estate were less than a month to approve. Fingers and toes crossed we get approved this week!

Electrical appointment

We had our electrical appointment today. I was nervous about how much we would spend. We Managed to keep electrical at a minimum as we will do down lights etc after handover.
Mostly we added extra baton lights and double power point, 3 TV points and phone line.

Council

Our house has finally been submitted to council this week!!! Hopefully ours will be approved within 20 days ( seems to be the current wait in council), then onto the construction list.

Final Contract Signed!

On Wednesday we had our final contract signing, FINALLY!!!
Hopefully the DA will be submitted to council this coming week, and with any luck it should be approved within the next 3 weeks!
I have to keep checking the pictures from our colour selection, to ensure it still looks good.
Our neighbours are building the same house behind us and are looking like they will have their house sooner than the contract date, which is so exciting, hopefully we have a fast build also!

We have added all flyscreens to the house except for the doors. We also added the actron wifi connect, cannot wait to use this little feature!!!!!

Building Plans!

Today we finally had our appointment for our plans. It was a great feeling seeing the plans on our block, " This is really happening"!!!
Only 2 minor mistakes in the plans, which are being rectified.
Our CLO was fantastic, explaining all the fine details of the build.

Still deciding on final colours, have a pretty good idea of what colour scheme to go with.

Soil Classification

Today we found out our soil classification, "M" class. This made my day, now we have more $$$$ for colours appointment 😉

Pre Colour Walkthrough

Yesterday we had our pre colour appointment in Canberra. It was a great day, our colour consultant was fantastic! We got our colour and electrical folder, so many options! My biggest splurge will most likely be the benchtops for the kitchen, if the price is right I'm hoping to have the new Calacutta Novo on 40mm bench.
We are having the full house bag and paint, trying to decide a colour is very hard. At least we don't have to worry about a brick colour!

The House and Facade

We have chosen the Tropicana Façade, with Garage on RHS. We have also deleted the round columns on the front and changed these to square columns, just like the display home.

Our ensuite has the bath deleted, and toilet moved to where the bath was. This them turns the shower into a double shower. It will create a small void at the back of the shower/pantry. We have turned the gap in the hallway to a set of shelves, most likely to be similar to shelves that are in the display homes.

Deposit Variation

Our second variation has come back, no issues. We will now have our first colour appointment next week. Pretty excited about deciding colours! Still trying to decide on external and internal colours.

The House!

We are Building the Bronte Exectuive Grand. A 5 bedroom home with a study, home theatre, rumpus room (man cave), and office. We are having an alfresco added to the design. We have also changed the design of our ensuite, by deleting the bath, and having a 2.2metre double headed shower.

Quotation

We have had a quotation done for our dream home. We were extremely happy with the current offers that we received and saved many $$$$. So late November we paid our deposit. We are super excited to start the process.

Deciding on a Builder

We had our dream house decided in 2013, a large acerage style house with a project builder. In late 2014 we contacted the builder to get the ball rolling! We were very disappointed when we were advised that they will no longer build in our area. We have always had a "backup house" just incase we needed. We decided to build the Bronte Executive Grand by Mcdonald Jones Homes.

Our Land

In April 2013 we purchased our dream block of land, 6 1/2 acres in the Southern Highlands.
